This discussion definitely deserves more than one listening. As a child (many, many years ago) commercial TV advertising for Crest toothpaste would claim it "(25-49) percent fewer cavities" for children who brushed their teeth with Crest. Even as a child I wondered how in the heck that could ever be scientifically proven out. I was a science nerd then and still am. It's a shame that true scientific methodology is so seldom used. Scientism rules the day for most, it seems.
Those that still believe in " viruses"also think they should use snake oil(vaccines) against them are using linear logic . The wrong thinking is based solely on the fallacy that a computer generated sequence ( a virtual model) of rna or dna is a " virus" .
Never once isolating it or proving it exists. Then in their twisted minds it follows that all inflammation (or even what is normal cell death) is blamed on what is not anything but an infectious idea in their mind .
I would say as human beings we were given the gift of reasoning and this is conditioned out of us by ( being unconscious ) the upsidedown teachings of the world.
As you say in school and society critical thinking is punished .
The identification with the conditioned mind has increased so much now that people can no longer hold two opposing ideas in mind.
And most feel threatened when someone disagrees with a belief(thought) and feel it is themselves that is being threatened.
I dont know if Bryon Katie's work resonates, she is one of the spiritual masters in the world teaching how she ended her suffering( and found freedom and peace) through her method (that involves critical thinking).
An Invitation to Inquiry
Welcome to The Work
"I discovered that when I believed my thoughts I suffered, but when I didn’t believe them I didn’t suffer, and that this is true for every human being. Freedom is as simple as that. I found that suffering is optional. I found a joy within me that has never disappeared, not for a single moment. That joy is in everyone, always. And I invite you not to believe me. I invite you to test it for yourself."
The typical ego-mind thrives on and values/wants comfort, convenience, and CERTAINTY. Certainty is the scarcest thing and uncertainty the most abundant thing of this world. The Creator KNOWS what we NEED and provides these in abundance. Appreciation for uncertainty leads to wisdom, peace, and happiness.
When you say God, I say nature, and when you say bad things happen in the Bible, I say that's right bad things happen in nature like weaponized epistemology to beat you over the head with that Bible because it's the word of God
"Perception is everything" only if you believe or think you know that your personal perceptions are complete and accurate interpretations of reality. If you understand that your perceptions can never be complete or totally accurate, you will strive to inprove them with additional information and points of view or viewing points. Different perceptions can also be tested for functionality and adopted or excluded based on compatibility with fundamental principals. Since fundamental principals themselves are based on incomplete and often inaccurate perceptions they too may be modified and improved with a more comprehensive and accurate set of perceptions. Whether by Nature or by God, human intelligence is limited and it appears that we will never know truth completely, but that does not mean that it does not exist and that we cannot get ever closer to it.
IMPORTANT themes, challenging, inspiring, and affirming!
This is an excerpt from a discourse by Meher Baba: "Life is not meant to be rich in spiritual significance at some distant date, but it can be so at every moment if the mind is disburdened of illusions. Only through a clear and tranquil mind is the true nature of spiritual infinity grasped — not as something that is yet to be but that already has been, is, and ever will be eternal Self-fulfillment. When every moment is rich with eternal significance, there is neither the lingering clinging to the dead past nor a longing expectation for the future but an integral living in the eternal Now. Only through such living can the spiritual infinity of the Truth be realized in life."
Thank you Dawn and Jordan!

In a perceived reality, perception is everything.

In my experience, personal perceptions don't interpret they create.
